I enjoy the little things like sitting on my front porch with a hot cup of coffee, peeking into creation and finding inspiration from a Good God. I long for deeper conversations than the norm of surface level chatter and diving into the only words that are abundantly transformative, God’s Words found in the pages of the Bible.
Front Porch Theology is a place for those conversations. A safe place of encouragement found in the deeper Truths about God through the often commonplace stories of life. Raising our kids, loving our husbands, being a friend and finding our worth in the life of Jesus Christ. The Front Porch is a perfect place to speak about the Good things we have been given, even as we journey through really tough seasons.
Theology itself is an attempt, an attempt to understand God as He reveals Himself in the Bible. We may never be able to fully or adequately describe Him, but we can know Him. As we journey through each day, we can seek to know His Name in all things. We can encourage one another as we choose to share what He has revealed to us through His Word at home on our own front porches or wherever He may lead us. Women of faith choosing to create an intentional place of belonging and hospitality through conversations that truly speak life abundantly and authentically.
"And those who know Your name will put their trust in You, For You, O LORD, have not forsaken those who seek you." - Psalms 9:10
I am a story telling stay-at-home mom who believes that when we are able to comprehend the impact of God’s Truth in our everyday stories, we can experience those Truths in a profoundly real way. I am raising two brave boys who never miss an opportunity for adventure and learning to love, extravagantly, a husband who has stuck by my side for over seventeen years. My family is my biggest source of support and often the leading characters of most of the stories I love to tell. They have helped me to see that I can know God right where I am…at home on my own front porch or wherever He may lead each day. I am sincerely grateful for their love, loyalty and encouragement.
My Core
FAMILY
In my home, I have been given the awesome privilege and responsibility of creating the environment where my family lives. Through the intentional act of hospitality, encouragement, care and accountability my family is my most profound and sacred investment in the world at large.
FAITH
In my faith, my only work is to believe in the One He has sent, Jesus Christ. (John 6:29) My faith in Him transforms everything that I think, say and do, allowing His Spirit to work through me to restore the brokenness that often surrounds me.
FRIENDS
In my community, I am learning to be a servant, placing others needs before my own and letting all that I do be done in love. (1 Cor. 16:14) I am committed, striving to seek peace in the city where God has placed me and praying continually for its people, understanding my own welfare is bound with it. (Jeremiah 29:7)
I had a dream that my husband and I were looking to buy a house and we found one we really liked. The only problem with this particular house was that the previous owner had written “happy” across the front of the house in thick white paint. In my dream, we discussed painting over it, and we questioned why anyone would do such a thing, especially before putting it on the market.
That was it. That was my dream.
When I woke up, it got me thinking.
What would you find in a “happy” house?
What is it about my own home that brings me happiness?
